I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to see so many of you on the zoom call this week. Thank you so much to those of you who spoke about your experiences and what you hope that this campaign will achieve. I hope it was the first of many meetings where we will all be able to get together and share a space with such unity.

This is your campaign, you own it and you will shape and drive it. I am here to support and moderate in whatever way I can. If all that I achieve is bringing you all together – that is amazing in itself. However, I firmly believe we will achieve far more.

Campaign Volunteering

I introduced Roxanne Ellis to those of you on the call this week, Roxanne is a creative and political campaigner and has kindly to volunteer her time to supporting you.

There is a link below to a survey, it has been drafted by Roxanne to help us understand the range of skills everyone can offer. This will guide our thinking around next steps of what we can achieve together. Please fill it in when you have a few minutes.

You can access the survey via the button below

Meeting Recording

The button below will let you access a recording of the meeting from earlier this week. This is a secure link to an unlisted video so please be respectful of everyone’s privacy and do not share it with anyone outside of the group.

The next DES Justice Virtual Meeting

We are planning to host another virtual Zoom meeting that will be open to attend for anyone in the DES Justice group. We'll cover any campaign plans and updates, talk through your experiences, and answer any questions you might have.

For those who are interested, the button below will allow you to access a webform where you can choose a date that works best for you. The dates are:

  • 2nd September
  • 4th September
  • 9th September
  • 10th September

This will again be an evening meeting and will likely take place between 6PM and 7PM.

Sarah Corker's Coverage

Sarah is the Social Affairs Correspondent for ITV News and she very kindly joined us on the virtual meeting to talk through her coverage of the DES scandal. The button below will let you access all of her stories - there are six that cover DES. Just scroll through the page to find them.

Open University Article

I have also come across a really interesting article on The Open University website that I think articulates our current position very well.

Staying Connected

The Facebook group DES Daughters and Sons Support Group UK is live and active. You can join here or via the button below.

The group has been created by the incredibly brave Suzanne, who talked about her lifetime of destructive health problems as a result of her mother being prescribed DES for the recent ITV News documentary.

You can also watch this video message from Suzanne, who shares her hopes for the Facebook group and why she encourages you to join. This is a safe, private space for those affected by DES to chat privately and share experiences. To be clear, the group is not run by Broudie Jackson Canter. This is a separate safe space ran by Suzanne to help connect DES Daughters and Sons.

You can get in touch with us at DESJustice@broudiejacksoncanter.co.uk.

Thank you all for being a part of this community. We are stronger together. Please do take care of yourselves, and step away if you need to at any time - prioritise your peace and wellbeing.

I am away for a couple of weeks in August, I will be back working on the 26th. I will check in with emails every now and then but there may be a delay in a response during this time.

Best regards,

Clare (Partner)
